Takara Belmont (known in the UK as Belmont) developed a base here in 1959, after having developed a metal manufacturing plant in Japan and ventured into the field of hairdressing equipment. Then in 1975, their team started supplying the dental industry with the world's first air-powered treatment centre, the 250. Since then they have gone on to produce some of the world's most renowned dental chairs, including the Clesta in 1991, the Cleo kneebreak in 1994, the Voyager in 2000 and finally the Compass in 2012.
